Greg may have found his forte - reading out writings by others.
And of course, let me address Greg's accusations toward me: Firstly, I remain in complete disagreement with Greg's claim that 'Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency has no value'. I used my nephew simply as am example to show Greg that he is asserting something that is already proven not true. Bitcoin does have value if people value it, regardless of what Greg defines as being valuable.
Secondly, my assertion that Bitcoin has value has absolutely nothing to do with what iON says about it going to 0. Nothing. I am NOT disagreeing with iON by saying my nephew made millions. The fact that Bitcoin may go to 0 has nothing to do with whether it currently has value. iON has said, '24 hours after people find out who created Bitcoin/Blockchain, Bitcoin will go to 0'. iON has also said, 'There is no problem in purchasing Bitcoin, or making transactions with it, but you might not want to hold onto it when you go to bed'. Neither of these statements have anything to do with what I was saying to you on the chatline, Greg. Your bringing iON up here is simply an attempt to attack iON, now through me, so that for once you might get one up on Them. You cannot get your way with iON, Greg. Everyone has tried. And you can't murky the waters of the Office Hours discussion by incorrectly accusing me of, 'going against iON'. They know that I have had disagreements with Them in the past on other matters, but that is what the past is for. I can no longer remember what was so disagreeable. Greg Duffell said...: Hello Michael: Thank you for listening to yesterday's show. Firstly, let me be clear about what I have stated on the show about the topic of bitcoin when Chad made a major dissertation about it over a week ago.

1) I never stated that bitcoin "had no value". I challenged the idea that it was a "store of value". My view is that bitcoin has gone through a stage of being a speculative asset in recent times. Bitcoin, in its current phase, is more related to tech stocks than the traditional "stores of value" that gold, silver and even fiat currencies currently offer. For instance, if you physically held gold, silver or fiat currencies they would be tangible and available for use. If the computer networks go down (iON often talks of massive disruptons to the electrical grids) bitcoin would be inaccessible. You cannot hold bitcoin without it being on the network, as I understand it.

2) You made many claims in the chat function last week (including the stories about your relatives profiting from bitcoin). One was that I was angry with myself I hadn't "invested" in bitcoin. I would reply that it would be an unusual person that would not regret buying an item at $10, let's say, and learn of it going to $69,000.00. But it would also be an unusual person that would have purchased an item at $10.00 and not sold it when it had reached $100.00, especially in such a short time. In fact every other asset that has existed in the world cannot hold a candle to the gains of bitcoin in the last few years. But that is predicated by having bought in at the correct time. Your relatives did do that, and had the smarts to get out and profit from it. Congratulations to them. Many bitcoin investors are underwater financially as I write this. So, just for the record, I did not nor am I now arguing that bitcoin did not go up in value compared to fiat currencies or practically every other asset.

3) What I stated in yesterday's program, after I had a week to reflect upon your statements directed at me in chat from a week ago Wednesday, was that I found it curious that you had such a difference of opinion from that of iON when it comes particularly to bitcoin. The reason I say this is because it is my experience in listening to the shows over the years that you never disagree with iON on any topic. About bitcoin, according to Bob, iON says that bitcoin is "going to 0". Now, I never said that, not that I'm going to go out of my way to challenge iON on that assertion because "it" may well be correct. The thing I find odd is that you would be so vociferous in challenging ME on my statements about bitcoin (which I think you are misunderstanding or misquoting) but not to argue with iON about the topic, which you have the occasion to do on numerous occasions.

4) I was not performing "an attempt to attack iON". Surely Bob could be seen as attacking iON by repeating iON's claim that bitcoin is "going to 0". What I was doing was forging a contrast between what iON purportedly has stated and what I have come to learn is your position. This is not to say that you are not allowed to have a disagreement with iON but, once more, my point is that I have never known you to EVER differ or quibble, let alone wholeheartedly disagree, with anything iON says. I think what you're contending is that I am trying to create conflict between you and iON. Well, maybe you're right, but I don't see what the harm is in that, but perhaps you do.

I hope my statements help to clear the waters.
