Cleanth Brooks to Marshall McLuhan | 11 September 1968

Cleanth Brooks, one of the leading lights of the New Criticism in the mid-20th Century, wrote an influential book whose title, Understanding Poetry, was the model for McLuhan's title, "Understanding Media", in 1964. In this letter Brooks indicates he's delighted but puzzled by McLuhan's latest book, Through the Vanishing Point.
